blog buddy

Whow! Christmas is really so near , tomorrow is December 1, just 24 days to go before christmas! I feel so thoughtful, especially with the award given by Jesse!

Thanks so much sis for this! This is my 1st award this Christmas month! :)

So, now I'm giving this to all of " My Daily Reads ". You are all my blog buddies! :)

aj's binky

Like many parents, I thought that AJ's pacifier was a lifesaver -- at least at first. Every time he wakes up and cries, just pop-in the pacifier and he's fast asleep, good for me but definitely a bad habit for my baby. I'm afraid that he won't break his binky at age 2.

He had his pacifier since he was 3 months. His pedia advised us to give him a pacifier, for him to break his frequent feedings. He was asking for milk every hour and just vomit everything after. His pedia advised us to limit his feeding hours by 3 hours interval with the help of this pacifier. Since then, he never stop sucking! And sometimes it was quite bothersome 'coz he is so dependent on his binky, to the point that he can't sleep without it!

Let me tell you an "inis" story about his binky.

Sometime this year, we spend a night at my parent's house. It was 11:30 pm when everybody in the house was asleep, Aj woke up crying. Our usual ritual, we feed in some milk bottle , then he will stop crying and continue to sleep. But unfortunately after he finished his bottle, he's still awake and crying.

Next step was to pop-in his binky- his pacifier. I tried to reach in thru our pillows, where we usually place his binky every night, but I could find it. I tried to wake up my hubby to help me find it. But still, no pacifier was found. Aj was hysterical! We tried to soothe him by cradling and sang to him his fave lullaby but still he was crying! As in loud!My parents woke up because of that and headed to our room. They helped us search for the binky but wala parin, it was past 12 na and Aj was still awake and crying.

Our desperate move, my dad and hubby went out to look for a pacifier! hay, it was terrible. We were so puyat and I was so worried of Aj. They came home before 12:30 am and have a pacifier in their hand, we immediately sterilized it and gave it to Aj, in just minutes Aj was down asleep! Gosh!

That morning, Aj woke up with a baggy eye because of his unending cry. Then, we wondered, where did his pacifier go? We tried to search again and finally found out where it is. The pacifier was in my daddy's bag! Gosh, que horror! It fell when we arrange the bed sheet and na shoot sa bag ng daddy ko.. Andun lang pla, hindi ba nakakainis yun? hay, ang pacifier nga naman, nakakaaddict! :)

Sunday will be our last day at my in-laws house, so we will wake up at around 5:30am for an early travel.

Upon arriving at our house, we'll try to catch the next mass available.

Then off to the mall for some pasyal for Aj and shopping for my family and for me ofcourse bwahahaha! I'll spend my whole day with my baby and hubby and have some quality time together. I just hope the weather will be fine this sunday.

Finally, I'll try to make my christmas list this Sunday evening.
Have a Great Weekend everyone! :)

excited!

I'm really excited! My hubby just ask me out again later and it will be his treat again, lol! I was craving for starbucks' mocha frap since last week, when I did Peachy's tag -"comfort food". hehehe.

Hopefully, we'll go there later. Atleast it will be a quick zip and bite, for us to go home early and catch AJ still awake.

my baby boy

Time flies so fast!

I mean, last time I remember, I was so tense of giving birth. But now Aj will be at his 16th this coming month.

Well, I'm really scared that my baby boy is going to be a big boy really soon! :( It's not that I don't want my baby to grow, its just that I'm afraid that I will miss more of his milestones and moments, especially that I'm not a stay-home-mom!

I actually got the "growing old" idea when I saw this pics :)

My baby really loves anything with wheels and by the way his acting here in his pics, he looks like a big boy na db?

Hay, hope I could spend more time with him and capture all our precious moments.

my christmas list ?

I make it a point that every christmas, I shop for a gift for my loveones (my family, inlaws and friends), eventhough they won't give me a gift in return, its the spirit of giving that counts. " Db ang sarap ng feeling pag-ngbigay ka at na-appreciate nila ang binigay mo. "

But the prob is, till now I don't have my christmas list. Last year kasi I was on a rush-shopping, as in a few days nalang ang christmas dun plang me ng shop ng gifts hehehe, crammer ! :)

As in I don't know what gift I'll buy and sino-sino and worst wala ka na tlgang mabili maganda. Well, I don't want history to repeat itself, that's why one of my " virtual resolution " was to have a list and shop as early as possible! But till now wala pa! lol! :)

sneak in some veggies

Pizza

The Makeover: Whether you're ordering in, heating it up, or making it from scratch, top your pie with flavor-packed nutrient-boosters like chopped tomatoes, red peppers, broccoli, and basil leaves. Aim for about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of vegetables or fruit (pineapple makes a great topper) per slice. Bonus: This is a great task for a mini sous chef hankering to help in the kitchen.

Expert Tip: If you opt to make your pie from scratch, use a whole wheat crust and low-fat cheese. "Or try mixing parmesan or white cheddar with your basic mozzarella," says Sarah Krieger, RD, a St. Petersburg, Florida-based dietitian and spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. The stronger flavor of those cheeses means you can get away with using less.

Chicken Fingers

The Makeover: Balance out this typically fried dish by serving healthy sides. Instead of greasy French fries, make your own baked sweet potato fries -- they're packed with vitamin A and also provide some fiber if you leave the skin on. "Keep some sliced veggies on the table too," advises Krieger. "If they're out there, your kids will inevitably munch on them."

Expert Tip: For healthier chicken nuggets, skip the premade stuff. Instead, dip chicken breasts or tenders in egg wash (a mix of egg whites and skim milk), then in seasoned bread crumbs or crushed corn flakes. Bake in the oven at 425 degrees F. for 20 minutes.

Mac-and-Cheese

The Makeover: Whipping it up from the box? Then just add some frozen mixed vegetables, like cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots, which help to boost this high-fat, low-fiber entree. "Don't assume your kids won't like it -- everything tastes better when it's doused in cheese!" says Krieger. In fact, a recent Penn State University study found that using "stealth vegetables" -- hiding them in sauces so that kids don't automatically recognize them -- helped boost preschoolers' veggie intake and slash their calorie consumption significantly compared to those who ate pasta without extra vegetables tossed in.

Expert Tip: If you're doing the from-scratch thing, make your dish even healthier with whole wheat pasta and low-fat cheese. Try flavor-packed cheddar instead of processed American.

Hot Dogs

The Makeover: For a natural way to serve up veggies with this summertime staple, prepare your dogs Chicago-style -- topped with pickles, tomato slices, onions, and peppers -- on whole wheat buns. Or you can try serving a brocoslaw salad, a healthier take on traditional coleslaw that uses shredded broccoli in addition to cabbage and carrots. Look for a prepackaged bag at your local market, and mix in a low-fat dressing instead of mayo.

Expert Tip: "Be a food label maven," says Neville. "There are so many options out there, so pick hot dogs with the least total fat and saturated fat per serving."

Spaghetti & Meatballs

The Makeover: "Marinara sauce is a good start," says Neville, "But you can doctor it up by mixing in a can of antioxidant-packed diced tomatoes before heating in a saucepan." Then toss in shredded carrots, chopped mushrooms, and onions to beef up the veggie quotient even more.

Expert Tip: "Because of restaurant super-sizing, we're used to eating meatballs as big as a fist," says Neville. Instead, give mini-meatballs a go. The portions are more age-appropriate and easier for little kids to handle, and chances are you and your hubby will eat a bit less (and cut back on calories) too.

Grilled Cheese

The Makeover: Add a slice of lean ham or turkey and a couple of tomatoes before grilling for a quick way to pack this simple sandwich with more protein and veggies.

Expert Tip: Skip the butter (it's high in saturated fat). Instead, brush the pan with unsaturated canola oil, which is more heart-healthy.

Peanut Butter & Jelly

The Makeover: PB&J is a natural fit for add-ons like bananas and apple slices, says Neville. You can even try skipping the jelly entirely (most commercial jellies are sugar-packed empty calories) and loading the sandwich up with fruit instead.

Expert Tip: Regular peanut butter has extra sugar and may contain artery-clogging trans fats and saturated fats. So buy natural peanut butter and serve it on whole wheat bread. Kid won't part with his go-to grape jelly? Look for labels that say "low sugar" or "fruit only."
